Welcome to the IMeC Internet Marketing e-Course

ryie: It's not just for the elderly any more

If you haven't taken Lesson 1 yet, go there now. We'll wait for you.

Lesson 4: Six Steps to Success

We will now lay out the program for the rest of this course:

The Six Difficult Steps to Financial Success on the Internet

Let's begin by answering a few
frequently asked questions (FAQ):

Did you say "difficult?"

I am afraid so.

How many steps are there total?

Six, so they are all difficult.

Well if it's that hard, why should I bother?

Because the payoff can be huge, and even though the steps are difficult, they can be achieved with a strong commitment.

But what about all those sites promising easy riches on the Internet?

The "get rich quick" (GRQ) sites often have some valuable information, but generally make it sound a lot easier than it really is. Here's an example from Stone Evans' pluginprofitsite.com. (BTW, the following headline was in 50% larger type on their site):

"Follow The 3 Easy Steps Below And I Will Personally Build A Money Making Website For You That's 100% Ready To Take Orders And Pull In Massive Residual Profits... Read This Letter To Discover Why I Would Let You Copy My Formula So YOU Can Start Making Money Online Within 24 Hours, Guaranteed!"

Did we lose you to that sales pitch? We gave you their link in case you find their three easy steps more tempting than our six difficult ones.

But there must be some truth in their claims?

I have no doubt that they will build a site "That's 100% Ready To Take Orders." There are millions of those on the Internet. The catch is that enough people must know about you and trust you enough to go to your site and find something they want to buy.

Then, how can they give the guarantee?

I am sure that they are sincere, and give a refund to anyone who asks. In most cases, you try it, get less than sterling results, figure you are doing something wrong, shelve their package and forget it. It's human nature not to ask for a refund.

Let's give one more example of the hype, from the Allan Says site (their highlighting):

"This is not your average Internet marketing book...this is like an explosion that will cause your mind to reel with ecstasy over the ideas revealed...the master Allen Says, is at it again!"

Whew! I am sweating. Give me a minute.

A formula for the marketing of Internet marketing products has evolved. Its components are the very long sales letter, the lack of any navigation except to the order page, the breathless claims of riches to be yours merely for the cost of the product, the testimonials, the free gifts or bonuses for acting now, the giant red print, and frequent highlighting (oops, sorry), and the premise that the product reveals what has been kept from the public until now,

If you want another example, go to http://www.trafficsecrets.com/.

We have found some classy operators in this field, and we'll tell you about them as we go along.

Some of the most exciting software products we have found are in the SiteSell family. Their slogan recognizes that we are not all computer geniuses, so they have developed "E-Commerce for the Rest of Us."

Visit SiteSell, and also check out their flagship product, Site Build It! This is the all-in-one site-building-hosting-and-marketing system of software tools that delivers thriving, profitable businesses. They offer some compelling proof of the success achieved by using this system.

For those that are a little more tech-savvy, Site Build It! for webmasters has also gotten rave reviews.

Everybody ready for your six steps overview? OK!

1: Get a cool domain name, and establish your web presence.

2: Find the right keywords for your business concept.

3: "Tune" your web pages for high search engine rankings.

4: Submit your web pages to the important search engines and directories.

5: Get links from other quality web sites.

6: Track the results.

Is that all there is to it? Yes, with about a million details.

Need merchandise to offer on your web site? We will talk some more later about getting goods to sell on commission as an affiliate.

If you are interested in affiliate programs, Strong Future International (SFI) is the place to start. Launched in 1998, the SFI Marketing Group has become the world's largest Internet affiliate program which has shown millions of people from over 200 countries world-wide how to cash in on the Internet.

On to Lesson 5, or Step 1? This could get confusing. >>>
